Après son mémoire de Master, Docteur Issa DIEDHIOU a fait un Ph D en Biotechnologies végétales et microbiennes et amélioration végétale en alternance entre l’UCAD et l’UMR DIADE de l’IRD de Montpellier. Sa thèse porte sur la caractérisation fonctionnelle de gènes marqueurs associés à la symbiose actinorhizienne à l’aide des outils de la bioinformatique et de la transgénèse. Ensuite Il a bénéficié de la bourse CV Raman Fellowship pour effectuer un Post Doc à Institute of Forest Genetic and Tree Breeding (IFGTB) en Inde où il a réalisé la caractérisation fonctionnelle d'un gène marqueur (HKT1) impliqué dans le transport du sel en utilisant l’approche genome editing. Récemment, il a effectué un séjour scientifique au CIRAD de Montpellier pour participer à l’identification des zones d’introgressions et gènes marqueurs associés aux stress abiotiques et biotiques chez le riz asiatique.
Parallèlement, il a participé à plusieurs formations pour renforcer mes capacités sur la législation de l’édition génomique (CIRAD de Montpellier), la prise en main de l’édition génomique (ICRISAT, Hyderabad, Inde) et la détection des OGM (NIB, Slovénie).
